About Duke

Gentle Duke, is very lucky to be alive. He found himself in a kill shelter in Romania, having had both his ears cut off, very underweight & peeing blood. Not good news for any dog but for a black lurcher, his chances were vanishingly slim that anyone would help him. One of the ladies in the UK who works with the pound Duke was in, asked if we might be able to step in & help this poor boy, who despite everything, was very friendly with humans. We couldn't leave him to what we knew would be his fate so we agreed & he was taken to the vet clinic.

Duke had several health problems which he had to stay in Romania for treatment for, for some months. Given the all clear, he finally travelled to us & is now settling into his foster home.

He is a really sweet, gentle & friendly boy with people & likes to potter round after his foster mum. He's showing signs of being a bit protective over 'his' foster human so would probably do best as an only dog. Duke really deserves his very own warm, comfy bed & adoring humans after all he has been through. He's also rather keen to go exploring so he will need a 6ft, well fenced garden! Sensible, older children. No cats
