Heathlands Animal Sanctuary

COVID-19: We are now open for rehoming again, with a few changes to the normal process under the current COVID-19 guidelines. This includes video home checks & meeting dogs outdoors, maintaining social distancing.

Fostering a pet

What's it all about?

At Heathlands we don't have our own kennels. In kennels, dogs can act completely out of character through stress. Instead we use foster homes for our dogs, as we feel you can only really assess a dog properly when it is in a home environment.

As a fosterer with Heathlands you will be provided with everything you need to care for the dog from crates to bedding, food and leads; everything is covered. We are fully supported by dog trainers and a behaviourist.

You agree to provide a loving, secure home and training where needed, and to have prospective adopters come to view the dog at your home so you can give them first-hand insight.

Ideally you will be able to take your foster to one of our approved vets for neutering etc. (costs covered by us), although if you don't have transport we can usually arrange for another fosterer to help you out.

Join our foster scheme

We are a family at Heathlands and we all work together for the same goal: to rescue and rehome as many animals as we can because each one of them deserves a happy ever-after.

Although it's always a sad good-bye, we are so grateful to have been able to give them a second chance. Please consider joining us—it really does save lives!

If you're interested in joining our foster scheme, please call 01763 244488 and leave a message. We will call you back within a few days (depending on how busy we are) for an informal chat.
